Wedding and Photographs

Around February 2006, one of our friends asked me if I can take part during her wedding as a photographer. Being a photography enthusiast, I was flattered at the same time scared when she told me that. Di naman po kasi ako professional kaya I really am scared to say yes. But she insists though she already has a photographer as part of the wedding package. Yun nga lang 300 pictures lang ang shots nya so she wanted one more photographer as a backup. I wanted to do it for free but the expectation maybe high so I ask her to reconsider a proposal of mine. That is to review the portfolio of her wedding photographer included in the package and at the same time look into other photographer’s portfolio. Whoever is her choice, I will work with that photographer.

It turned out she chose a professional photographer I’ve known for a long time and opted not to take the photographer included on her wedding package. It was a great feeling and I felt very excited to work with a photographer I admire.

The wedding day came and surprisingly, I am not nervous at all unlike the first time she told me to be one of her photographer. Maybe because I am in good hands and there is no pressure on me except take pictures. I acted like a pro (hehehehe…konting yabang lang po!) and did not worry about what to shoot and how to shoot it. My photographer friend made it easier for me by giving me tips and giving his full confidence on me.

The shoot was so tiring! I was sweating like a three year old child running around under a hot sun. But that's how it is or else I won’t get photographs. The shoot started at 11AM and we ended around 1030PM having only our breakfast at 7AM and dinner at 830PM to complete our meal for the day. On the other hand it felt very good to see the couple so happy and graciously pose at the camera whenever we aim our lens to them. And there are so much happening during the wedding that I always want to capture them. I just hope they will be happy with what we accomplished for them. Maybe once I heard some good news I will post the link here. But I do have one photograph that I really liked and I posted it at my shutterblog dated 19th June 2006.

Yeheeyyy!!!! I finally have my new lens! Worth ang pagkakabili ko. I like it though I don't have the same zoom range as my other lens (17-55mm vs. 18-200mm).

I am not referring to any person. The truth is, I will be saying goodbye to my old but not so old gadget. I finally decided to sell my 18-200mm lens and buy another much capable and superb lens. The 17-55mm f2.8 DX lens from Nikon.

Wala lang nabangit ko lang baka interesado kayo malaman gaya nung interest nung bumibili ng lens ko.

sana it is a worthy decision!

1234 AM na gising pa ko...at mulat na mulat pa...bukod sa mahaba tulog ko kaninang hapon e may iniisip ako. Kung ano ano lang naman...tulad ng :

Maayos kaya itong nakuha naming bagong maid? - Opo...in a year naka tatlo kami palit ng maid...susme sakit sa ulo...yung nauna gusto na umuwi at parang na homesick. Pero I know may mas malalim na dahilan so we let her go back. Yung pumalit ewan ko ba para kaming nabulabog! Maayus ang usapan namin during the interview pero nung nandito na sya sa amin...wala na atang magandang nangyari! Sabi ko nga sa asawa ko, may dala atang malas itong tao na ito e. Ayaw ko magsalita ng ganun pero pakiramdam ko it was unfair. Buti sana kong maayos sya mag trabaho! Puro reklamo at demands! Pero nakahanap sya ng katapat...ang aking mga little angels! One day sumuko sya at nag decide na aalis na raw sya...to the point na halos inaraw araw at na i-remind kami na ayaw na nya sa amin! Di raw kaya alagaan ang mga bata! Pinagtyagaan namin sya halos one month kasi di ganun kadali humanap ng kapalit. Finally we got the replacement and it was a relief! Sana nga tuloy tuloy na!
Gusto ko bumili ng bagong lens (ang kulit ko nuh?) - Sinabi ko na sa previous post ko. E kasi po I am trying to build a portfolio. Project ko po this June wedding photography portfolio. Besides that e di o pa na-isubmit ang aking project last time. Required kasi na mag submit ng pictures based on the modules na pinag-aralan namin. In case you are wondering e ano ba pinagsasabi ko...member po ako ng PSS or Photographic Society of Singapore. Naks...bigat ng dating nuh...?
Election po dito sa Singapore - Curious lang ako paano mag eleksyun dito sa gapor. Peaceful wala violence pero may siraan pa rin during their campaign rally. Katuwa kasi tomorrow may resulta na and some areas e "no contest" meaning wala kalaban yung incumbent kaya automatic sya ang panalo. Ang kainis lang e simula kanina 930 e puro tungkol na sa eleksyun ang palabas sa local channels dito!
Ang haba na ng buhok ko - pero di ko feel mag pagupit. Hahaba na naman kasi e! Kainis! Gwapo pa rin naman ako e! bwahahahaha! (Umangal PANGET!!!)

Na-miss ko ang blog na ito.....maraming nangyari the past weeks and kaya ito super busy. What just happened ba?

1. Si Pru twice na ospital because of asthma attack
2. Malapit na election sa Singapore - di po ako tatakbo sa election...nabanggit ko lang. Part na rin ng buhay ko ang Singapore e...
3. Palagi ako nasa Indonesia - business trip (hayup sa dating!)
4. Nakakalbo na boss ko - napansin ko lang naman...
5. Naglalaway ako bumili ng dalawang lens para sa toy ko...
6. Naglalaway ako bumili ng tripod
7. Naglalaway ako bumili ng polarizer - muntik na last Saturday
8. Nasa repair and toy ko - waaaahhhh!!!!! ma miss ko toy ko!
9. Nanood kami ng ICE AGE 2 - ang saya saya ng mga bata
10. Nanood kami ng Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Fan ako ni Johnny Depp. I am waiting for the Pirates of the Carribean 2
11. Pinanood namin kanina yung video ng mga bata two years ago....maluha luha si misis..miss na namin ang mga bata.
12. Sa wakas naka pag blog din ako!

Ano ba meron ngayun?

It seems that everybody in Singapore stopped moving.

I left the house around 9AM. MRT station was almost empty! First time that I don't have to fight for a standing space inside the train. When I reached the next bus stop...I was wondering where are the buses? i have been standing for almost 20 mins! I am just fed up of standing so I decided to waive a taxi to stop and bring me to the office.
I reached the office 15 mins before 10AM. I have a meeting at 10AM. Usually in the office, 15 mins before the meeting starts, you will see people starting to get the most comfortable chair and sit on the remotest corner of the room. It was still empty and I found out that almost everybody is having their morning coffee across the building.
The meeting started and when I checked my watch, it's 45 mins past 11AM! We normally have 30 to 60 mins of meeting once a week. The meeting ended 1215 noon.
It seems that our clients doesn't need us today. Normally after lunch, the office is almost deserted because we are all out to our clients taking all the slaps left and right.
It's 5PM and I see a number of people leaving the office already..including the managers!
And you know what time I left the office? 630PM! I spend an hour and half talking to my officemate. Just talking rubbish mostly.
I reached home almost 8PM. The taxi driver is asking for a small change for he doesn't have enough small notes. He did not have much passenger today!

A Birthday Wish

I just celebrated my birthday. Don't ask kung ilan taon na ako. Ang masasabi ko lang dyan e malakas pa ako.

Sad to say, I celebrated my birthday in the hospital. My panganay was admitted in the hospital due to bronchitis. I will be honest, this probably one of the saddest birthdays I had. Nevertheless I am not disappointed because the Lord granted my birthday wish. I wished not for my self but for my daughter. I ask the Lord the night before my birthday na my daughter will be able to recover and discharge from the hospital on my birhtday. Yun lang wish ko for my birthday and I am very thankful He answered my wish and prayer.

What other things happened during my birthday?

My two kids greet and sing a happy birthday while we are in the hospital
My wife made a chocolate fondoue for desserts after our dinner
I took a bath. Galing ako hospital nuh!!!!
I treat my wife with Mcdonalds milkshake
I treat my self with kaya butter toast, cheesy french toast and iced lemon tea in a coffee shop nearby
My wife bought me a cheezecake
We ate alimasag for dinner

Mag selos na ang magselos! Basta may bago ako crush! Si Katharine Mcphee. Natutunaw ako pagnakikita ko sya. Grabe kong tumitig! Very talented lady and yet humble. Naka wallpaper sya ngayun sa PC at of this moment. Grabe para akong high school from an all boys school and suddenly nakakita ng pretty girl during a foundation day! Gusto ko sya dalin sa prison booth at ikulong maghapon hanggat di nya ako sasagutin.

Tama na baka masakal na ko ni misis!

Hidden meanings of Valentines Day

Ever wonder what does it mean if a man gives flowers to a woman each Valentines Day?Are the number of stems correlates to a hidden meaning? A stem of rose or maybe three? How about six or better yet 12 stems? Here are my own interpretations of hidden meanings when giving flowers in terms of number of stems. These however are for fun not to be taken seriously....

One rose = that's all I can afford! Be thankful. Do I still need to bring you out?
Three roses = I love you (read as "I am married!"). Read between the stems girl!!!!
Six roses = Let's do it!!! I can't wait. It's getting expensive every year!
Twelve roses = It's been a year since I gave you six roses! I beg you. Please.
Twelve roses w/ bear on a basket = You are hard to get! This is the last time!

When the man finally get what he wished for. The next Valentines Day, meanings may change a little bit.

One rose = Thanks!
Three roses = I love you. Nothing changed (I am still married!).
Six Roses = Do I still need to beg again?
Twelve Roses = It's been a year since we did it!

Singapore - a FINE city

It has been three years since we moved here in Singapore. Everything here comes with a price. Don't be surprise if you are ask to pay 0.50 cents extra when you want your freshly squeezed orange juice without any ice! Tissue is not free in Singapore in all of the food courts here. Some shopping mall toilets requires you to pay 0.20 cents before you can unload your bladder after a long walk in Orchard Road.

But yesterday morning, there is a sudden change in what I perceived Singapore really is. Every Sunday I bring my daughter to her playgroup. We always take the bus and as always I pay using a fare card. As I scan the fare card to the reader, the annoying sound of "tutututtt" caught the attention of the driver. That means I have to pay in cash since the fare card value is already negative. I always have coins in my packet just in case the card runs out. But this time I don't have any coins left and the bus is already moving. I politely ask the bus driver to let us alight on to the next bus stop since I will not be able to pay the bus fare. The driver simply smiled and gestured forget about paying. When we reached our destination, I waived the driver thanks and he gladly nod and smiled again.

(Sa Pilipinas mo gawin ito....malamang namura ka na o kaya mapagsasabihan ka na..."sasakay ka wala ka pala pera!")

Satisfaction

Wala lang....medyo nanggigil lang ako. O teka baka akalain nyo e ano pinang-gigilan ko.

Since I started taking photographs and made photography as a hobby, there is always this feeling that I am not satisfied in the outcome. Maybe because I've seen enough photographs that really made me stare for a minutes and ask myself "How the hell did he shoot this photograph?".

As they always say, practise makes perfect.

My kinda Cheese

Maybe not all people like to eat cheese. Unlike me and my better half, we like to have lots of cheese as toppings on spaghetti, pizza, tacos, baked macaroni, etc....

Lately we discovered another kind of cheese (thanks to our friend all the way from Yishun Singapore)… I am not sure exactly what it is called but you can see what I am talking about here (look for Yummy as the post title)….O yeah…it’s pricey. That is the sad part. But you know, indulgence comes with a price. Once in a while is not bad though. So today on my way back from Indonesia, I bought two boxes. Don’t ask me why two boxes even though I already told you it’s pricey. I just thought why not two?
